Dont forget the addes benifits of walking in the Philippines Bob. It improves agility and balance also. From dodging jeepneys and motor scooters, sidesteping potholes, doing step ups on high curbs (great cardio), ducking umbrellas (if your as tall as I am) and naturally working up a good sweat! :) But seriously I enjoy walking in our neighbor hood for exercise and all the other reasons you listed. I actually know my Asawa's home town better than she does.

Bob don't forget that if you can walk in a park or somewhere else away from car fumes etc., there is the wonderful benefit of fresh air to clear your lungs.

I like you enjoy the feeling of wellbeing after a walk. But, there is nothing wrong with stopping to take in the view just to take a few minutes rest.lol.

My everyday recharging is qigong and meditation, my every week recharching is cooking food for my family every saturday and my once in a while recharging is going somewhere near or far away. I feel a need for that at least once a month and I can afford it so why not do it.

Hi Marjorie - You are so right. Recharging your batteries need not be a week or more away, it can be a simple 30 minute walk in a solitude place where you can reflect. Lots of different ways to recharge, and we all need it!

Hi Bob

You are right about recharging batteries. We all need to get away from the daily grind.

A walk in the countryside, just sitting in the garden and enjoying the view (we live on a hill with views down the valley) or for me if the weather is bad, I just loose myself in a book.

We all have different ways to do this but we all need to find time. to do it. Recharging your batteries often helps to enjoy a holiday more.
